Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

1.1 In these Terms and Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the following meanings:

  • “Business Day” means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday;

  • “Calendar Day” means any day of the year;

  • “Contract” means the contract for the provision of Services, as explained in Clause 3;

  • “Deposit” means an advance payment made to Us under sub-Clause 5.5;

  • “Month” means a calendar month;

  • “Price” means the price payable for the Services;

  • “Services” means the services which are to be provided by Us to you as specified in your Order (and confirmed in Our Order Confirmation);

  • “Special Price” means a special offer price payable for Services which We may offer from time to time;

  • “Order” means your order for the Services as attached;

  • “Order Confirmation” means Our acceptance and confirmation of your Order as described in Clause 3;

  • “We/Us/Our” means Furniture Moves, a company providing moving and related services.

1.2 References to “writing” include electronic communications such as email or fax.

2. Information About Us

2.1 Furniture Moves is a company providing moving and related services.

3. The Contract

3.1 These Terms govern the sale and provision of Services and form the basis of the Contract.
3.2 Marketing literature and price lists do not constitute contractual offers.
3.3 A binding contract is created upon written Order Confirmation.
3.4 We will ensure you are given the following information prior to contract formation:

  • Main characteristics of Services

  • Our identity and contact details

  • Total Price or calculation method

  • Payment arrangements

  • Complaints policy

  • After-sales services and guarantees (if any)

  • Contract duration and termination terms

4. Orders

4.1 All Orders are subject to these Terms.
4.2 Orders may be changed before Services commence.
4.3 We will inform you of any Price changes in writing.
4.4 Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours; refunds processed within 14 Calendar Days.
4.5 We may cancel due to personnel/materials unavailability or force majeure.
4.6 We do not deliver specific prohibited items.
4.7 Returns depend on third-party supplier policies.
4.8 Drivers inspect item conformity and take reference photos.
4.9 Customer-controlled delivery issues may incur storage/driver securing costs.

5. Price and Payment

5.1 Price as per Quotation at time of Order.
5.2 Prices may change but not after acceptance.
5.3 All Prices include VAT.
5.4 Price balance payable before Services.
5.5 Accepted payment methods:

  • Cash (up to £150)

  • Credit Card/BACS (for orders > £150)

  • Bank transfers

  • Cleared debit/credit payments

5.6 Late payments may incur 8% interest above BoE base rate.
5.7 We may change fee rates or calculation methods.

6. Provision of Services

6.1 Services will be provided with reasonable skill and care.
6.2 Services commence on date in Order Confirmation.
6.3 We are not liable for delays due to external events.
6.4 You must provide required information promptly.
6.5 Inaccurate/incomplete info may cause delays and incur extra charges.
6.6 Delays on your part may lead to service suspension.
6.7 Non-emergency suspensions will be notified in advance.
6.8 No charges apply during suspension, but prior invoices must be paid.
6.9 Services may be suspended for non-payment.

7. Problems with Services

7.1 Inform us promptly of any issues.
7.2 We aim to resolve issues promptly.
7.3 We won’t charge to fix issues caused by us.
7.4 Consumer rights apply; refunds/repairs offered per legal obligations.

8. Liability

8.1 We cover foreseeable loss/damage from our breach or negligence.
8.2 Services are for domestic/private use only.
8.3 Standard Delivery: Zero liability for damages.
8.4 Liability for property damage limited to repairs.
8.5 No liability if instructions ignored.
8.6 Proper packaging required; insufficient packaging voids insurance.
8.7 Claims valid only for damaged packaging with proof.
8.8 Damage must be reported immediately and via email.
8.9 Fair Wear and Tear: No warranty for pre-owned items.
8.10 No liability for pre-repaired or fragile items.
8.11 £150 excess on insurance claims.
8.12 No liability for internal faults unless external damage is visible.
8.13 Claims not processed until charges paid.
8.14 Fragile items are uninsurable.
8.15 Customer must ensure nothing is left behind.
8.16 We will repair any service-related property damage.
8.17 Inform us immediately if wrong item delivered.
8.18 No liability for business losses.
8.19 No exclusions for death/injury due to our negligence.
8.20 No exclusions for breach of reasonable skill/care.
8.21 Consumer legal rights are protected.

9. Events Outside Our Control

9.1 Not liable for delays due to force majeure.
9.2 Services may be suspended/terminated under such events.
9.3 If affected:

  • Notify you promptly

  • Suspend obligations

  • Update on status

  • Allow cancellation

  • Cancel after 4 weeks if unresolved

10. Cancellation

10.1 Right to cancel before services begin per Clause 4.4.
10.2 Post-commencement: 24-hour written notice required; unused payments refunded.
10.3 Cancellation post-24 hours but pre-service: Max 50% refund.
10.4 Full refunds for our breach, liquidation, or force majeure.
10.5 We may cancel prior to commencement per Clause 4.5.
10.6 Post-commencement: Refund only for undelivered services.
10.7 We may cancel immediately for:

  • Non-payment

  • Material breach

  • Force majeure
    10.8 Material breach defined by significance of consequences.

12. Feedback and Complaints

12.1 We welcome customer feedback.
12.2 Complaints should include:

  • Name and surname

  • Order number

  • Date/place of collection or delivery

  • Reason for claim

  • Compensation amount (if claimed)

  • Signature (if written)

  • Date of complaint

13. Other Important Terms

13.1 We may transfer our rights/obligations.
13.2 You may not transfer rights without written consent.
13.3 Contract is between you and us only.
13.4 Unenforceable provisions are severed.
13.5 Delay or failure to exercise rights does not constitute waiver.

14. Data Protection

14.2 Data used solely for performing courier services.
14.3 Personal data categories: Name, contact, correspondence.

15. Law and Jurisdiction

15.1 Governing law: England & Wales, and Scotland.
15.2 You retain consumer protections of your residence jurisdiction.
15.3 Jurisdiction: Courts of England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland depending on your residence.
